A trip - a story of loss, love, abuse, and friendship set in the semi-fictional world of SubSuburbia. A story of the big move to the big city, claustrophobia, and heartache, insecurity, and pride. Sun-drenched Americana dragged backward through the 90’s Britpop scene via George Harrison’s house. Read More
. Spoken-word interludes appear like magnifying glasses over a bloodstained map of the UK. Broken relationships drowned in booze and chemicals, a birds-eye view of total destruction of hope, a hopelessly romantic saga. A trip to France, memories of drunk school friends and first loves, purity and the scrap of positivity that pulls us all through when we’re at our worst. Holding a mirror to the very best and the absolute worst of British people, places, and things. Musical influences range from The Go-Betweens to Radiohead all the way to Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg whilst remaining a record only Dan Lyons, with his unique worldview and experience could produce. -

"With a charming drawl, Rainn Byrns’ debut album ‘New In Town’ isn’t one for following the crowd. That’s in his credit, too. Switching between wry humour & warm reminiscence, it’s lo-fi bedroom pop with a crackling, timeless edge" ★★★★ - Dork "Rainn Byrns has arrived into album territory in elegant style... 'New In Town' is an eclectic & irreverent debut jam-packed with soothing melodies & a tongue-in-cheek vocal delivery; Byrns isn't running anymore, instead, he faces his demons head on & turns them into song" - YUCK "Casual Americana, bootstrap blues & a faint note of nu-psychedelia... Byrns taps into familiar idiosyncrasies & using emotionally intelligent lyricism, makes each line both personable & relatable" - So Young Full of alt. country gems & lo-fi indie pop, finding the sweet spot between Badly Drawn Boy, The Bees & I Am Kloot - Record Collector "Realised on vintage gear in his South London electronic den to most pleasing effect... a healthy balance between technical ingenuity and on-the-hoof dynamism" - RnR -
