“A music biz take-down dressed up as a tribute to Taylor Swift . . .
you may even laugh!” Ben Homewood / Music Week Playlist editor
“I like Taylor Swift, and I don’t care who knows it” sings Charlie Laurence aka/Coach Hop on this effervescent and lighthearted mocking ode to the pop queen. Dripping with irony I like Taylor Swift is an exclusive Record Store Day release & the first single on the new Singles Club from Independent label Scratchy Records.
Alongside big names like Nicki Minaj, and Miles Kane, Coach Hop‘s catchy 3 minute debut has scored them a well deserved place on the UK trade mag Music Week Playlist. Backed by the likes of Radio X‘s John Kennedy, who’s been playing the tune on his show and saying “You’ll be hearing that again, a bit of an instant classic”. John also shouted out the pink vinyl release for Record Store Day and its Hope & Anchor release party.
Evoking elements of the 90′s American pop-punk sound, we can hear aspects of Weezer, Green Day, and Fountains of Wayne. With frontman Laurence’s tongue in cheek take on fans’ guilty affinity for Swift’s music, this debut single is only the beginning of what Coach Hop have to offer
