Tinkka is a dynamic new band delivering a potent fusion of Rock, Pop and Hip-Hop vibes on record along with a unforgettable and explosive live show. In an industry forever searching for the next big thing, Tinkka is a ray of light at the end of an increasingly murky tunnel. Not only do they look good and sound great, but also write their own material.
Their effervescent style, unique look and great sound have already attracted growing acclaim throughout the UK with performances at Sunderland FC plus an explosive gig at a gothic castle on bonfire night. The band’s freshness is derived from the diverse influences of its members, each bringing a particular flavour to the sound.
Introducing the Band
Tinkka is made up of three members, all with a different style creating an explosive fusion.
Soraya: (Lead Vocals and Guitar)
Born into a fairground family where toffee apples and candyfloss are the way of life, Soraya knew her destiny was to be a performer. Working predominately with dance producers, Soraya landed herself a record deal with All Around the World Records releasing the massive dance anthem ‘When You’re Gone’ which she co-wrote with producer Jason Havenhand. This led to collaborations with Flip and Fill, Riffs and Rays, Friday Night Possie and Starlet’s DJs, appearances on Radio and TV, plus performances alongside artists like Atomic Kitten, Busted and Gareth Gates at major festivals.
Dean Barton: (Vocals and Guitar)
Born in Wakefield, Dean has always had a passion for music and knew from a young age he would be a musician. Son of the late Alan Barton, lead singer of 70’s pop band Smokie, Dean recalls touring with his father, where on the last night of the tour he got on stage with the band and performed in front of 20,000. “This is one of my fondest memories of my dad”.
After his Father’s tragic death, Dean was determined to keep his father’s legacy alive and went to Germany where he landed himself a solo deal with Akropolis Music. Two of his songs were released on several compilation albums that went to No1 in the German Album Charts. In 2003 he set up the writing team Uplift, writing edgy pop songs for many artists. As well as writing, he is also a talented guitar player and vocalist bringing a strong rock influence to the group both on and off stage. With his Kurt Cobain looks and Liam Gallagher attitude he is the ultimate rock kid.
Nick Paige: (Drums and Percussion)
Nick brings the finishing touches to an already glittering line up. His energetic character and talent as a drummer keeps the band tight and rocking. He first came to the band’s attention as a vocalist performing on several songs prior to meeting Soraya. His infectious vocals have landed him many gigs working along side Robbie Williams, Travis, and gigs at the Mean Fiddler fronting his own band. However, it was for his powerful drumming that Nick was invited to join the Tinkka band, securing his place in the final line up.
