In 2004 a collection of superb musicians hailing from Canada and the US met in Barcelona. Within a month the band Sunstation was formed and they were packing out local venues like La Boite, Harlem Jazz Club and the exclusive Luz De Gas promoting their self titled debut album.
This critically acclaimed release is a collection of songs reflecting the bands wide and varied influences from classic artists JJ Cale, Peter Gabriel and Van Morrison through to current bands like Hootie & the Blowfish, Counting Crows and Manchester four piece The Engineers.
Having caught the attention of tastemaker radio DJ Bob Harris, the band is now set to release the album in the UK and is playing a selection of dates in the capital during March.
Cece Giannotti Vocals and Lead Guitar
Canadian lead vocalist and guitar player Cece (pronounced Cheh-Cheh) is a Berklee College of Music graduate who has worked with Iggy Pop, John Cale and the LSO (London Symphony Orchestra). In the music Cece draws inspiration from his many life experiences. For example the track Mitakuyeh reflects his experiences whilst living with the North American Red Indians.
Joe Lewis Bass and Backing Vocals
Born in Nashville, Joe has recently established an excellent reputation throughout the Barcelona music scene playing Jazz, Punk and Ethnic fusion styles as well as jamming with Grammy Award winning artist Michelle Shocked.
Pere Foved Drums
This young Catalan drummer has already gained a high reputation amongst Barcelonas music scene, performing live and recording with many critically acclaimed artists. Together with Sunstations guitarist Andreu Martinez, he often enjoys playing to the local music cognoscenti who gather in Barcelonas underground Blues & Jazz clubs.
Andreu Martinez Guitar
This virtuoso Rock/Fusion guitar player has released his own solo studio album Signs of Life (Senyals De Vida) and recently, a live album showcasing his exceptional musicianship. Well known amongst Barcelonas live music scene, Andreu is an invaluable addition to the Sunstation sound.
