Futureproof Records are a new independent urban soul label developing UK talent in the Urban, R&B and Hip-Hop genres. As a label we believes in promoting quality music with an emphasis on good songwriting and the future development of urban music as a cross-culture genre.

The first release 'All My Love (Goes Your Way)' by West London's United State features Rodney P on rhymes and Swedish chanteuse Cascade on the chorus hook. Mixes are by UK R'n'B artist Don-E (aka Atomic Dred) and United State's main man Double-G. Future releases from this promising act include the track 'Second Amendment' featuring an awesome performance from Neneh Cherry.

Also joining this new label's roster are; the soulful duo Sunburn whose silky smooth vocals will capture the heart of many a listener, and UK R'n'B vocalist Kayson, whose first release is an urban take on the Phyllis Nelson classic 'Move Closer' due out in early 2004.

The label is always looking for new talent, and material should be sent to the address given on our contact page. The publishing arm is also under developement with it's affairs currently being administered by Bug Music.

The operation is overseen by Phil Legg who can be contacted at phil@futureproofrecords.com, while marketing and sales are looked after by Dominic Brendell dominic@futureproofrecords.com.

Phil comes from an eclectic background. Having started as a guitar player in bands, he toured Europe supporting acts like Iggy Pop, The Human League, Scritti Politti & Joy Division, before having immense success as an engineer working along side Sade, Boy George, The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, Erasure & many others. Then, his production of Desree, The Pasadenas & with Martyn Ware of Heaven 17 the critically acclaimed Terence Trent D’Arby album "The Hard Line According To…" firmly established Phil’s position in the British music scene. Remix work includes De La Soul, Lisa Stansfield, PM Dawn & Eternal mixes, while for television he has written & produced original music for various programs including "Life, Death & Damien Hurst", the documentary about a recent New York show by the controversial artist. In 1996 Phil’s career moved more towards a writer/producer capacity and he soon had success with a track on the best selling Playstation game in America Gran Turismo. He has since gone on to write with Beverly Knight, Keith Lowndes (ABC), Neneh Cherry and many others.

Always looking for a way to channel his music Phil created Futureproof, then began nights at the Gate showcasing various ideas and attracting new talent along side numerous DJs spinning a selection of hip hop and R'n'B grooves. The clubnight went on and won ‘Best Club’ at the ‘My Village.com’ awards giving it an impressive profile around the Notting Hill area. Then in 2003 the record label and publishing company were launched.
