Known for her soulful vocals on 90s classic Winter in July by Bomb the Bass which she co-wrote with Tim Simenon, Loretta Heywood returns with a new album The Boy Across The Road. The album features the single A Horse With No Name, her contemporary take on the 70’s hit by the band America.

The Boy Across the Road is primarily an acoustic album with a contemporary twist that includes elements of jazz, folk & dance. As well as the single A Horse With No Name, other key tracks from the album include This Boy That Girl & Butterfly, both already being played on Radio 2 (Huey Morgan, Alex Lester)  & 6Music (Nemone, Don Letts), Suspicious Minds written with David Arnold and an acoustic version of Winter In July.

Recording vocals and songwriting over the years with a variety of producers, Loretta felt the coherent thread joining them together was lacking and it was with this inspiration that she set about recording her own debut album. Embarking on this labour of love, it was time for her to bring a mix of ingredients together and create the perfect musical cocktail.

Alongside musician & artist Andy Mitchell, they created the album The Boy Across The Road’, a pure and simple collection of songs, lyrically born out of Loretta’s own life experiences of ups, downs and spiritual growth. It’s a tribute to her neighbour and musical support Andy Mitchell who is the real life ‘boy across the road’ and lead singer of the Yardbirds (currently on tour).

The album is also mirrored by two remix EP’s; 5 Shades of Summer (released on BBE Records) and 5 Shades of Blue (released later this year and featuring the legendary Skip McDonald), which can be heard on request.

Bomb the Bass’s Tim Simenon discovered Loretta when he heard here early recordings with Major Force. The resulting release from their meeting, Winter In July went on to become a major hit all over Europe. Loretta went on to work with producers Guy Sigsworth & David Arnold plus collaborations with Bugz In the Attic, Wai Wan & Victor Davies before meeting Andy Mitchell, which led to the current album release. Live shows currently are being booked for the autumn period. Please see website for more info.
