London based Singer-Songwriter Paul J. Riley releases his first single entitled Blue from the forthcoming album Alba Place due out next year.

The single, with its charming lyric, see’s Paul in a reflective mood as he thinks back on what could have been. With a lilting melody, and at some points reminiscent of the more gentle Paul Simon compositions, Paul’s vocal is backed by a lush ararngement of tasteful slide guitar motifes and Hammond B3 giving the single a classic & timeless feel.

Other tracks on this debut offering are ‘Velvet’ and ‘I Have No Doubt’, the latter of which was penned with Marlon Roudette from UK trip-hop act Mattafix.

Originally born in the UK, Paul spent his early years growing up in Massachusetts, USA where he experienced plenty of open country and a connection with nature. This was all to change when in his early teens Paul found himself moving back to the UK and living between Wolverhampton and North Wales. Then in his twenties Paul stumbled into Industrial Design and by a twist of fate found himself designing and manufacturing a plastic spoon for the then up and coming Ice Cream company HaagenDas.

Good times followed, but with an itching desire to get out on the open road, Paul traveled to India on his motorbike crossing the Western Ghats Mountain range through Kerala, Tamil Nadu & other southern states.

Taking from this rich tapestry of experiences, Paul then started songwriting and found audiences at various music nights where he would perform his self-penned material highly receptive to his songs.

This organic approach to his musical output has allowed Paul’s songwriting to evolve and naturally find a suitable niche, the result of which is the album Alba Place from where this debut single is taken. Paul will be performing Blue and other tracks from his forthcoming album at various London venues in the coming months. Please check his website for more information
