Jon Byrne, ‘Man of the Match’. . . says Mick Jones

Things are hotting up nicely for Jon Byrne’s upcoming gigs at Studio 2 in Liverpool, Nolias 11 in London (SE 1) & The Nines in his home town of Barrow-in-Furness. The shows are part of the promotion for Jon’s new album Built by Angels which is due out late June and the initial response has been excellent with Steve Lamacq giving the opening track Lighthouse an airing on his BBC Radio 2 ‘Rock College’ show last night.

Jon has also been working with Clash legend Mick Jones again and recently performed an excellent version of the Bobby Womack classic Across 110th Street due to be aired as part of the Rotten Hill TV series.

The series is rumoured to feature Paul Cook (Sex Pistols), Viv Albertine, Jim Jones & Rupert Orton (Jim Jones Revue), Hollie Cook, John Cooper Clarke, The Savage Nomads & various other artists.

After Jon’s performance, Mick presented him with the ‘Man of the Match’ award and bottle of fizz, given out to the most entertaining character of the night each time a Rotten Hill TV episode is filmed.
